“Many men can can make a fortune but very few can build a family.” –J. S. Bryan
What is the eternal impact that you are having through your business operations? Have you ever thought about it? Now is the time.
Living Life to the Full is so much more than success; it’s all about impact. The biggest impact is a lasting impact. Let’s take a look at the most critical areas, shall we? How is your business impacting your health? Tell me how you can have a lasting impact when you’re sick, stressed, and angry? “Wait a minute, Evan. I thought this article was going to be about leaving a legacy, not my health.” One of the greatest legacies you can leave is the legacy of good health. It all starts with an apple a day!
The No. 1 cause of death in the United States is still heart disease and it has been for the last 80 YEARS! So much for the impact
of progress and technology! The main contributor to heart disease is stress, so I will ask you again, how is your business affecting your health?
I remember when I answered that question honestly for the first time back in 2005. My main business division was in rapid-growth mode, and money was pouring in, but so was the stress. I realized that my present business model was not working well for my overall health and sanity. So I leveraged the power of the 80/20 Prato Principal. I ran the numbers and, sure enough, 80 percent
of my profits came from 20 percent of my clients. After deeper study, I realized these were my favorite clients and they caused me the least amount of stress. I took action that day and changed my model to only work with those 20 percent, and I’m so glad I did. I share this story to encourage you to make a shift in your business so you can maximize your health and sanity. Remember, health is the Real Wealth.
The next question is how is your business affecting your marriage and, if you have them, your relationship with your kids? Yes, we are going there, because if you’re not Living Life to the Full, then you are not really living at all. In Los Angeles, where I was born and raised and still reside, I’m surrounded by people living one- pillar lifestyles. They have nice houses and cool cars, but they are bankrupt in their health and relationships, and they have no time. No wonder everyone is trying to escape through entertainment, drugs, alcohol, porn, or whatever. No thanks, not for me.
The purpose of your business is to serve the lifestyle you want, not the other way around. Too many people get confused and feel like they have to keep building or keep scaling up in order to be successful. J. S. Bryan said, “Many men can make a fortune but very few can build a family.”
I encourage you to join me and be one of the few who chose to Live Life to the Full and thrive not only in your business but also in your health and relationships. The simple truth is “All things are possible for him who believes,” Mark 9:23. All means all, but it will require some intentional living and focusing on harmony instead of the balanced lie. Oops, I’m getting ahead of myself; I’ll share more about that in the next blog. For now, I challenge you to stop and take a new look at your life. Are you leaving the legacy you want in your marriage? How about the intentional time you spend with your kids? Lastly, are you leaving the legacy of good health? Now is the time to take action and change. You can do it.
