That’s right, we just had wedding #40 at the iconic Buckingham fountain in Chicago. What a city! Out of all the downtown areas of major cites that we have explored, Sydney, Dubai, New York, London, Pairs, Zurich, Seattle, Atlanta… Chicago is my favorite.
Here’s why.
#1. It was way cleaner that I thought it would be. Dubai is hands down the cleanest, it’s “Disneyland Clean” but Chicago was amazingly clean. I was remarkably surprised.
#2. The food is sensational! Everywhere you turn is another great spot. Monteverde was our favorite. Get your reservations now, it’s popular.
#3. The architecture. Dubai and New York both have stunning architecture but there is something about Chicago. Dubai is so new, and transient with all the ex-pats and New York is so dense. Chicago feels much lighter and brighter, it’s really amazing.
#4. The River. – It was so beautiful. The ancient steel draw bridges, all the boats going up and down, all the amazing buildings from different eras, it was really, really cool.
#5. Lastly, the people. They like tourists in Chicago. In New York everyone is busy and driven, get out my way, etc… Sydney was cool, but Chicago had much warmer people. Everywhere we went, Northside, Southside, even all our Uber and Black lane drivers were wonderful.
We chose Chicago because we were inspired by the travel and food show Somebody Feed Phil. We had four restaurants from the showed all picked out and our friends took care of the rest. AND EVERY RESTAURANT WAS GOOD! Really good!
But we had to decide on a spot to get married. SO We thought about the Sears tower AKA the Willis tower, but after getting married at the top of Burj Kalifa, it’s all downhill from there, so we chose the Willis Tower AKA The Sears Tower…… for more listen to this weeks episode on the Marriage Of Greatness Podcast
